Aporia's End
Dark academia • Speculative fiction
Synopsis
1946. In postwar England, five university students find a strange machine—Hemlock—whose typed names are followed by inexplicable deaths. Intrigued by the phenomenon, Octavia Adkins and the others test Hemlock’s limits, curiosity slowly giving way to temptation. What starts as an experiment soon becomes a means to sanitize the campus of those they deem undesirable. The fascination of the group soon becomes obsession, until Octavia’s name appears on the page. And curiosity becomes a countdown. As an investigation closes in and paranoia fractures the group, the students are forced to erase the traces of their crimes while attempting to save Octavia. But when Hemlock begins asking moral questions and making choices of its own, Octavia and the others realize that they are no longer the ones deciding who lives or dies.
A dark academia novel exploring obsession, morality, and the dangers of belonging at any cost, Aporia’s End will appeal to readers of The Secret History, Babel, and other character-driven speculative mysteries.
